Jyotish Ranjan Deka

I am currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Forest and Wildlife Ecology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. My research focuses on large mammal ecology, landscape connectivity, and non-invasive monitoring, especially of the Bengal tiger in Northeast India.

Before joining UW-Madison, I had the privilege of working with two renowned organizations in India, Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun and Aaranyak, Guwahati. These experiences have not only shaped my perspective but also fueled my passion for conservation.

My long-term goal is to aid the development of strategies that ensure the survival of flagship species and foster coexistence between wildlife and people in rapidly changing environments. I welcome collaborations, dialogue, and opportunities to share knowledge that can strengthen conservation science across global landscapes.
